Welcome to a laboratory where innovation meets care. Within the innovative Mud Lab of our thermal mud hotel in Abano Terme, billions of years of biological memory are preserved. Here, the mud matures in thermal water at 38°C for 60 days, creating a precious biofilm of microalgae and cyanobacteria – descendants of the very first organisms that brought oxygen to our planet.

Mud therapy

The 6 stages of an age-old ritual

1. Medical admission consultation – 15-20 min.

An initial consultation with our resort doctor: compulsory prior to undergoing traditional mud therapy.

2. Scrub – 10-15 min.

The skin is prepared for the thermal treatment with a deep cleanse to improve the absorption of minerals and beneficial substances.

3. Application of thermal mud –
15-20 min.

The matured mud is applied to the skin at a temperature of between 38 and 42°C for a period of 15 to 20 minutes.

4. Thermal bath – 8-10 min.

The thermal mud is removed with a warm shower, after which you immerse yourself in a thermal bath for 8 to 10 minutes at a temperature of 36 to 38°C.

5. Perspiration reaction – 30-60 min.

Following mud therapy, a perspiration reaction takes place, varying in duration and intensity from person to person.

6. Therapeutic massage – 25-55 min.

The session concludes with a toning or restorative massage to reactivate circulation.
