The history of our thermal spa in Italy
Our family adventure began over a century ago. Hotel Mioni Pezzato is in fact one the first spa hotels establised in Abano at the beginning of '900.
It was 1889 when Giovanni Mioni, a farmer of the Abano Giarre estate of the well-known Paduan Wollemborg family, used to go to Abano Bagni, near a resurgence of sulphurous thermal water known for its therapeutic properties, to cure the aftermath of an accident that occurred during the grape harvest. Having gained great benefits from it, Giovanni understood the potential of this spring and bought the land around the thermal spring.
In 1906 he built an establishment here called Nuove Sorgenti, which he entrusted to Ugo Pezzato. Even today, traces remain of the old spring that started everything: it is located in the stone well under the beech tree in front of the hotel entrance.
When the handsome Giuseppe Mioni fell in love with Elvira Pezzato, the manager's judicious younger sister, his father Giovanni was so happy that he donated the spa hotel to the newly married couple that, from the day of their wedding on September 16, 1915, at the behest of the young and emancipated Elvira, it was named Nuove Sorgenti Mioni Pezzato.
